Hood River House

My sister took some great pictures of our Hood River House that will be up on VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) real soon. Sarah Hubbard did an awesome job painting vintage book spins on the stairs. I wanted to share them. So here you go...

Chalkboard Phobia

I have always wanted to do chalkboard art, but have always been too scarred to actually do it. I usually talk my sister into doing it for me, but not today... I just went for it, I dug deep and thought... What is the worst that could happen? I wipe it off and try again and if it still is bad wipe it off and then talk my sister into it!! Ha!!

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13

So I jumped on Pinterest and did some "research". I found one to tackle. Start easy right... Or jump right in...

This was done on one of the Hood River Cottage's original kitchen cabinet doors. It was all sanded down and turned into a chalkboard (a past project).
After I tackled this one I just went on to free hand the chalkboard above the sink (also in Hood River). Here that one is...

And my final one is for above the kitchen cabinet. Just for decor. This was the first day I started staging the cabinet tops, so just visualize a 48" piece of barn wood that says "eat" on it in the middle of the decor...

So this evening was a success!! I have conquered my fear of a chalkboard and I had a blast doing it!! The exciting thing is I can change them often!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
Cheers,
Kaitlin

Introducing Me...

Hey there!! This is the time to introduce myself and what my journey is about!! I am not going to reveal all that I am about on this one post, but I sure am going to throughout this blog.

My name is Kaitlin Aho and I am a mom of two amazing children (I am not bias), a wife to a very hard working man who owns his own construction company and a hair stylist. I was saved by the Grace of God and I am thankful for all he has blessed me with. I have a journey that is unique and deep. I will share with you some of my success and some of my struggles as this blog progresses.

What is my blog going to be about...? Good question!! I was thinking it would be best if it reflected me... ADD... I was thinking it could be about fashion, style, decorating, DIY projects, faith, travel and adventure, parenting, food,  struggles... Squirrel... I always say... I am a hair stylist... We are flakey by nature... So don't be surprised if I disappear for a short while and come back!!

I have a passion for women... I love serving and making women feel great about themselves... Some of the things I will love to do with this blog are to show you how to make a new wardrobe using the one you have and adding a few new items... Quick and easy make up applications and hair dos... Revamping a piece of furniture or even an entire room or home... My husband and I (and a couple family members) just completely renovated a 1914 cottage in downtown Hood River... I am excited to share what we did and how we styled the cute cozy place... Now that that project is done and I have time to recover... I am taking this time to fully and completely "unstuff" my house!! I am selling and donated the items not needed and only purchasing items that I want forever (who am I kidding nothing is forever).

Occasionally I will invite my very creative and inspirational sister to give photography advice and some of her DIY's... She is an incredible decorator and designer and we have completely different styles... She is my best friend and our daughters are 3 days apart (which means we will force them to be best friends!!)... We do something fun where we plan their joint birthday parties everyother year... Last year I put on a fancy vintage tea and the year before she hosted a milk and cookies party. We will look forward to sharing those moments with all of you...

We'll... I don't want to go on and on and on... So look forward to more to come...

Thanks for checking me out...
Cheers!!
